International Conferences
Throughout its years of existence, the Armenian Philosophical Academy has organized numerous international conferences, theoretical seminars, and roundtables in Armenia and various foreign countries. These include, among others, a round table on issues of argumentation held within the framework of the 18th World Congress of Philosophy in Brighton (England); a Finnish–Armenian conference in Turku (Finland, 1988), in which nine philosophers from Armenia participated; a conference for young scholars dedicated to issues of argumentation in Sevan (Armenia, 1988); and an Armenian–Finnish–Dutch conference on argumentation held in Yerevan and Sevan (Armenia, 1989), as well as other initiatives.
Preparatory Work and Discussions
One of the records of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR notes the decision to organize a conference jointly with the Ministry of Public Education of the Armenian SSR and Yerevan State University, also involving the Sevan Philosophical Center in the organizational work. In order to ensure a high theoretical level, the Academy carried out extensive preparatory work, including the organization of a debate from February to April 1989 on the topic “The Definition of Argumentation, Its Constituent Elements, and Their Interrelations,” which was later expanded to include discussions of related fundamental issues.
Participation in International Conferences Organized by Other Institutions
The Academy has also actively participated in international conferences organized by other institutions, including:
Joint Initiatives
Joint initiatives between the Academy and other institutions also play an important role in conference organization. Among them are the academic session titled “Issues of Interpretation and Evaluation of Armenian Culture of the 20th Century,” held at the National Academy of Sciences (initiated by the Humanities Division of the NAS and the Armenian Philosophical Academy), as well as international conferences organized in cooperation with the University of Athens (2004), at the Armenian–Russian Slavic University (2005), in the United States (2007), and at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (2012, 2016). Detailed materials are presented in the relevant sub-sections of the website’s “Conferences” section.
